This product is a thick cream that has a very strong smell of lavender. The menthol in the cream gives a cooling effect to soothe aching muscles, although I would prefer the cream without menthol. It's moisturizing but it's not as thick as butter should be. I like that it contains different types of essential oil to keep my skin moisturized.
It's designed to soothe muscle aches, and it may take a few applications throughout the day to feel its full effect.Just a pea-sized amount goes a long way. The cream absorbs nicely and leaves skin feeling soft and moisturized. For anyone seeking a gentle and hydrating way to address nighttime muscle discomfort, this cream is worth trying.

I got this magnesium body butter because I love the scent of lavender when going to sleep at night. I also appreciate the benefits of magnesium cream and wanted to give the bodyotics brand a try.The first thing I noticed was that the inside was nicely sealed. I always worry about someone returning product after trying and then it being sent to me. I felt confident no one had touched this before my use. I really appreciate this attention to detail from bodyotics. The second thing I noticed when I removed the white seal was an overwhelming scent of menthol. I do not detect any lavender. This was a bit unsettling as menthol does not "calm" me -- it makes me wake up! But I walk 90 minutes per day and do strength training and stretching so I was looking forward to using this after my daily exercise. The next thing I noticed is that the consistency is not what I would consider to be "butter." It's more on par with my lotions. See my review video for the consistency. It's made in the USA, which I appreciate. The writing on the package is so tiny that I cannot read most of it. This is frustrating. I have my readers on too! I read somewhere on the packaging not to apply to cuts. My hands are so dry that I have open cuts all over my fingers and I will concur that you do NOT want to get this on cuts or open areas of skin. It burns! Kind of difficult to apply it when I have cuts all over my fingers. I will need to use latex gloves to protect the cuts or just deal with the burning sensation. The "butter" does absorb quickly. The menthol scent lasts for a bit, but I do not smell it when I get up in the morning.Overall it's a decent product. I don't think I'd pay almost $26 for it since I was hoping for a calming lavender scent, not a jarring menthol scent, but I will continue to use it and report back if I notice any impressive results from long-term use.
I've never tried magnesium lotions, but I like the richness and natural ingredients of body butter. This one is not what I'm used to. First of all, it's very runny for a body butter - it can be pumped from a dispenser and it’s not very rich. Second, the first ingredient is water. You have to go down the list a ways before you get to shea butter. Perhaps this is how magnesium lotions are. Finally, the scent is very strong. I like the lavender, but the menthol is a overpowering to me, especially before bed. Better not touch your eyes afterwards. The packaging is fine, with a seal that kept the liquid from getting all over the lid or leaking in transport. However, the branded paper box it comes in is too big for the jar so it bounces around in transport. On the expensive side for what it is.
I end up with tired and restless legs after being at work for 10 to 16 hours. This body cream has been helpful in making my legs less restless. It also seems to relax my body and I go to bed quickly after applying it. It is geared to pregnant women but it works for anyone needing some relief. It states its a body butter but its not thick like a body butter should be. This is more consistent like a body lotion. It is actually hydrating and I like the way it smells.
I got this because sometimes I have leg cramps at night and I read that magnesium is good for helping ease these. I like the smell of this lotion, it's a lovely lavender scent which is perfect for at night, it's a calming smell that helps relax me and help me fall asleep. So I use this on my legs mostly but I also put some around my collarbones so I can smell it while I'm drifting off to sleep. The cramps seem to be happening less now that I've been massaging my legs with this lotion; I can't honestly say if the lotion or the massaging is what's making them happen less frequently but I'm glad this is the case, either way. The lotion absorbs quickly and doesn't feel greasy or gross, it's a thick formula but it feels pleasant going on. Really lavender is the only smell I notice from it, I don't really notice any other notes in particular. I like this lotion and am glad I ordered it.
Smells great and melts like butter on skin. Easy to apply and soothes any irritation. Quite effective for everyday use.
Pros:✅ Formula works regardless of whether you're postpartum or not✅ Use about 2-3 hours before sleeping to hydrate the skin and aid with relaxation✅ Lavender scent is very slight, the menthol smells stronger, giving the application area a slight cooling sensation✅ No adverse reactions on the skinCons:❌ Expensive for the size. I've gotten similar sizes for a better value
I feel this is a quality product that may help mild pain. Certainly, it will moisturize your skin. My wife likes to use it on her feet at the end of day...after a hot shower. Perhaps the scent is not exactly lavender but more menthol like...that's ok though. I would definitely order this product again.
the cream is thick and i can smell the lavender scent. the cream is moisturizing and my skin felt soft. the cream was easy to apply i just put my finger in the jar and rub the cream onto my skin. the cream did feel cool on my skin which is nice.
I have used this on the bottom of my feet before sleep for a few weeks now, and I like how it absorbs in easily. It doesn't leave me feeling greasy at all. I do feel it has helped my sleep a bit, but not as much as say, a sleeping pill would. I did rub it into some sore muscles in my back on two nights, and that helped them calm down and not be as sore the next morning.
The scent is light and not bothersome. I felt a burning the first time I used it, but not since. I have read that means I was deficient in Magnesium. I sleep like a log until 3 AM and then I still have trouble sleeping sometimes after using this.
I've been using a magnesium spray at night for awhile now, and thought I'd try this body butter. Especially since I have winter-induced dry skin right now. The lavender scent was natural and pleasant, but I wasn't expecting the menthol. (I see now that it is mentioned in the description.) I personally did not find the cream relaxing or calming, as it tingles quite a bit, like Icy Hot, almost to the point that it felt like my skin was burning. I do have sensitive skin though. I think I will save this cream for daytime use.
It smells too much like menthol.
I use magnesium creams on my calves at night due to soreness and the occasional cramp. This one has a good consistency and a pleasant smell. Would recommend it to people who are low on magnesium or pregnant.
great quality magnesium lotion for feet and legs - very calming lavender scent that is not overpowering.
I have Lupus and with it various aches and pains in my muscles and joints. I have a plethora of creams, ointments, gels, and lotions, but have yet to try a topical magnesium product, besides Epsom salts in the bathtub. I would not call this product a "body butter", as its consistency is more like a thick lotion, but it easy to apply, non-greasy, and absorbs into skin quickly. For therapeutic benefit, however, I feel like I have to apply quite a lot of this, and with the price point, I can't say this is a good value compared to other pain relief products in my arsenal. It's not a miracle product, by any means, and is more pain soothing than pain relieving. For someone who experiences daily muscle and joint pain, I would consider this product something to use to relax before bed, rather than relieving acute or chronic pain. I enjoy the lavender scent and the menthol is not overwhelming or stinging/burning. It is relaxing, but I probably wouldn't reorder.
Good cream. Goes on smooth and doesn't leave a sticky feeling. I wasn't super impressed with the lavender smell. I thought it was kind of weak and didn't smell that good. But the cream itself is nice. I put it on my legs before bed and it does seem to help with the restless, crawly feelings that I get in them sometimes at night.
I’ve tried several magnesium body butters and this one is my favorite. First of - smells amazing! I love lavender smell and there’s hint of mint that just makes it better. Second - I think it actually relaxes my muscles. I have tired legs at the end of day and sometimes some calf pains and I think this relaxes my calves so well because it really helps with good sleep. It is made in USA, comes in big size (8oz), it’s easy to apply and massage into skin and it absorbs fairly quickly. I love it!
I've tried a few varieties of magnesium lotion, but this was the first that included menthol in the ingredients. I did not feel that it was very calming because to me it felt more like icy-hot on my skin, though not quite as intense. Was expecting just a nice relaxing lavender scent without the menthol burn. That said, it did do a good job at hydrating my skin and I did not note any irritation.
I’m quite pleased with this magnesium cream. Upon opening, I noticed the familiar smell of lavender – and it’s the organic smell of natural lavender rather than an artificial version, just the way I like it.The consistency is whipped and lightweight. After a few minutes on the skin, I noticed the unexpected cooling sensation of mint. Very welcome and soothing. This cream is going to be a nighttime favorite of mine for quite some time. A+
I like the scent of this magnesium cream, but it does not do enough to relieve any pain from stiff joints. I wish more could've been done here to make me give it a higher recommendation.
Not sure how many lavender magnesium creams I've tried now, but this might be my favorite based on scent alone. It's just very pleasant and relaxing. It also works well and is a great cream to use at night. I found it relaxing, soothing, and also hydrating. It doesn't feel salty or sting like some similar creams do either. I would reorder this!
This magnesium body butter from Bodyotics is filled with good things, including almond oil, shea butter, lavender angustifolia oil, and magnesium chloride (known for soothing muscles). It has a kind of “whipped” quality that makes it easily spreadable, and it leaves my skin feeling really nourished and hydrated. It doesn’t leave an oily residue, and is manufactured in the USA.The best thing, though, is the lavender scent, which stays on your body for a long time. If you don’t like the smell of lavender, this body butter isn’t for you. On the other hand, if lavender’s your thing, you’ll be a fan.
